Skip the boring old, traditional sled and instead get one of these cool sleds for kids.
If your child is eager to get outside in the winter time, encourage them with a super cool sled that would make anyone want to go play in the snow.
Sledding can be a great way to get exercise during the winter time and just simply get outdoors instead of being cooped up inside all winter long. These sleds are perfect for kids of all ages and even parents may consider having some fun on them as well.
Here are my recommendations for the best cool sleds for kids. (If you are looking for sleds for younger children under the age of 3, check out my recommendations for the best winter sleds for toddlers.)
Cool Snow Sleds for Kids
Flexible Flyer Snow Screamer
How cool does this snow sled look?
The Flexible Flyer Snow Screamer not only looks really cool but it’s a great sled for any kid who really wants to be the fastest one down the hill.
This sled will hold two riders at a time and has two sets of handles for riders to hold onto. It measures 47 inches long so it is a rather large sled but it’s still made of a lightweight foam and only weighs approximately 3 pounds.
A lot of people find that this foam sled is a lot more durable than the cheaper plastic ones, especially if you plan on using it more than once or twice during the winter.
Zipfy Freestyle Mini Luge Snow Sled
The Zipfy mini luge snow sled is definitely not your average sled as it has a completely unique design.
The sled is recommended for ages 5 years and up but has a great range as it will support up to 250 pounds. This means that even parents can take a turn down the hill on this sled.
Although it may not look like it, the sled is lightweight so it’s easy for a child to carry up a hill. The lever on the sled even makes carrying the sled easier for people.
There are rails on the bottom to allow for the ability to slalom down hills while the lever provides the ability to steer the sled as well has help for turning.
The unique feet first design makes it super simple to stop the sled and even control the speed if you find you are going too fast for your liking.
It’s available in a few different colors red, green, yellow, and pink.
This is definitely a cool sled for a kid that not only looks pretty neat but also allows lots of control that other sleds don’t provide.
Paricon Trick 360 Snow Sled
Your kid will love riding down the hill or trying to do his own tricks on the Paricon 360 Snow Sled.
This sled can be rode on a variety of different ways as it has handles to ride like a regular sled or you can use the straps to secure your knees as you head down the hill sitting on your knees so you can do some cool tricks.
This is another molded foam sled that is lightweight but also has pretty good steering capability with the grooves on the bottom.
This can be a really cool sled for older kids and teenagers who may want to push the limits a bit and try some new tricks in the snow.
Heavy Duty Snow Sled Saucer
If you are looking for a kid’s snow sled that you will really get your money out of, then check out these heavy duty snow saucer sleds.
They may not go the fastest down the hill but they most likely will last the longest. You can really beat these sleds up and not have to worry about then cracking and breaking on the first ride down the hill.
They feature two web handles so the rider can hold on and steer the sled and there is a rope hole in the front so you can even attach your own rope and use it as a pull sled as well.
It’s approximately 25 inches in diameter so it’s large enough that more than one kid can ride on it at a time. Smaller adults may even be able to ride comfortably on the sled as well.
This may be a good option for younger kids or if you simply want a good basic sled for your kids that will last more than one year.
Cool Sled Alternative – Kids Ski Scooter
If you don’t mind checking out something a bit different than a sled for your child, then I recommend you look at this really cool Ski Skooter that is a mixture of a snowboard and a kick scooter.
Geospace Ski Skooter
Your kids can experience the thrill of getting to ride a scooter in the winter as they coast across the snow in this combination of a scooter and snowboard called the Ski Skooter.
This is used just like a regular ski scooter as you can coast downhill on it or use your one foot to push you across flat surfaces.
The front handle allows for easy steering capability as well as help for balance especially for going down hills. The handle does fold down for easy storage as well as for easy carrying.
It features a non-skid surface so even when it gets wet you don’t have to worry about your child’s feet slipping all over the place off the board.
This scooter is recommended for kid ages 5 years up to around 13 years old. It may be too small for older teens and adults.
The cool thing about this scooter is that you can even use it on grass or even inside on carpet when there is no snow outside. It is not recommended for rough surfaces like cement though.
The ski scooter may be a nice alternative for a child who wants something a bit more difficult or something unique that looks really cool going down the sledding hills.
Winter time doesn’t have to be boring. Encourage your child to get up off the couch and enjoy the winter air with one of these cools sleds for kids.
