There are lots of great outdoor play sets and toys for toddlers and one of my favorite would have to be a nice outdoor slide.
Slides are great because they keep your toddler busy while promoting balance and coordination skills. And most can even be used indoors so you can get use out of them all year long if you have the space available.
The Best Slides for Toddlers
When buying a toddler slide there are a few things to keep in mind before you buy.
You should consider the size of the slide including the height of it, as well as how much room the slide takes up. If you plan on storing the slide during the winter time also consider storage options like if the slide can be folded for more compact storage.
If you are looking for the best outdoor slide for a toddler in your life, check out my recommendations below to see which one may be the best option for you.
Little Tikes First Slide
This is one of the best selling slides for toddlers as it sells for a good price and it’s a quality, sturdy toy made especially for younger kids.
It is recommended for ages 18 months up to 4 years old and does have a 50 pound weight limit.
The ladder up to the top of the slide measures approximately 27 inches, so it’s definitely not too high for younger kids but is still high enough that toddlers will get a good slide going down.
There are even handrails that snap into place at the top that can be used with younger kids to help prevent any tumbles off the slide.
The slide easily folds down without having to take it apart, so it doesn’t take up much room if you plan on storing during the colder months.
The slide can be used both outdoors as well as indoors. Since this is a smaller slide, it would be a nice option to bring it inside during the winter months if you have the space.
Step 2 Play & Fold Jr. Slide
This toddler slide from Step 2 is another great option if you have a younger child and you are looking for a smaller slide.
There are only two steps on the back that are used to climb up to the top of the slide. There is also a higher handrail on each side of the slide making it much more difficult for a young child to fall off.
It is recommended for ages 18 months up to 4 years old. It is a sturdy slide that unlike some other cheaper ones won’t be able to be tipped easily by a child.
This is another one that can be used outdoors as well as inside. It does fold up for easy storage as well, although some buyers have had some complaints about being able to fold it while others have noted they have had no problems folding it.
Little Tikes Easy Store Large Slide
If you are looking for a little bit of a larger slide for your toddler but still one that is age appropriate, this one may be the best buy for you.
Unlike the ones above that are recommended for ages 18 months and up, this one is actually recommended for ages 2 years and up because it is a bit higher. It also has a higher age maximum of 6 years rather than 5 years old. This means that you may get more use out of this one rather than a smaller one.
Although it is bigger, it is still made with toddlers and preschoolers in mind as it has the handrails at the top of the slide and it is a gentle sloping slide down to the bottom.
The wide base both at the end of the slide and the stairs helps provide stability to prevent it from being able to be tipped over when your child is trying to slide or climb.
To the very top of the slide it is approximately 38 inches and is about 5 feet long.
Just like the other options above this one also easily locks and unlocks to be able to fold the slide up for easier storage.
Alternative Option – Little Tikes Endless Adventure Climb and Slide Castle
I thought I would include this cool looking climb and slide play set for toddlers just in case parents want a neat alternative to just a regular slide.
The back end features a simple rock climbing wall while the front has a gentle slide. At the top it looks just like a castle that even features a cool steering wheel to play with as well.
It is recommended for ages 1-4 years old. The slide is approximately 2 1/2 feet tall so it’s the perfect height for younger children.
The play toy can be used both indoors and outdoors as it’s not super huge and is actually smaller than the large size slide above.
The one benefit of getting this climb and slide over some of the other ones is that it doesn’t have the roof on top of the platform, which can limit how long your child can play with. If you have a tall toddler you may find that some of the other ones that have roofs may not last your child that long.
Whether you choose one of the smaller, junior slides or the climb and slide for your toddler you are sure to have one happy kid on your hands. And parents can be happy too as these slides for toddlers not only encourage your child to get get active but they also help with balance and coordination skills that young kids need to develop.
